Warmer temperatures often bring an increase in fleas and ticks

As spring approaches (finally, warmth!), it’s important to be aware that fleas and ticks will soon become active. It’s recommended to start flea and tick prevention when temperatures rise above 4 degrees Celsius, as this is when ticks can breed and remain active. In Ontario, this typically occurs from mid-March to mid-November. To emphasize the significance of flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, we’ve developed an infographic outlining why it’s essential and what preventative measures you can take.

Preventative Care is our Mission:
Our preventative care program

At Norval Animal Hospital, our commitment to your pet’s well-being goes beyond just treating illness – we believe in proactive, preventive healthcare to ensure they live a long, healthy, and happy life. With this philosophy at the core of our practice, we always keep our patients’ best interests in mind.

Over the years, we’ve witnessed how even seemingly healthy pets can underlying health concerns that, if left undetected, may escalate into more serious issues later on. That’s why we advocate for early identification and intervention. By addressing potential health issues proactively, we aim to create a win-win situation for both you and your furry companion.

To support this approach, we’re proud to partner with Antech and Heska, a leading diagnostic laboratory, to bring you an exclusive preventative care program. This program offers a comprehensive wellness profile for your pet, including full bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, and abdominal ultrasound – all at a significantly reduced cost compared to individual tests.

The benefits of this screening are twofold. Firstly, it provides you with peace of mind knowing that your pet’s health is being closely monitored. Secondly, it offers invaluable insights into your pet’s overall health status, potentially uncovering early signs of illness or underlying conditions that could progress if left untreated.
